The Korea Exchange exists since 2005 as a result of a merger between the Korea Stock Exchange, Korea Futures Exchange, and the KOSDAQ Stock Market.

The headquarters of the Korea Exchange are located in Busan, but most of the activities take place in Seoul. The stock exchange has ambitious plans and is now a major player in Asia. For example, in 2011, the Korea Exchange helped set up the stock exchange in Laos and Cambodia in exchange for a minority stake.

Shares on the South Korean stock exchange are traded in the South Korean won. Keep in mind that the value of your investment may decrease when your currency becomes stronger relative to the currency of South Korea.
