Thanksgiving and Christmas will mean that the markets will be partially open. They close earlier than usual on those days.

Unexpected closures

It may also happen that the United States stock exchange closes unexpectedly. This often happens during a special event that moves the markets strongly. When a large-scale disaster occurs it can significantly influence the stock market prices. For example, the stock exchange closed after two planes crashed into the World Trade Centre. With a similar closure, an attempt is being made to prevent an excessive crash.
